Visiting

Parents are encouraged to support their children to walk, cycle or take public transport to school

Walking

Wapping High School is located within an easy walking distance of the majority of students’ homes. Visit walkit for assistance in planning your journey to school.

Cycling

Wapping High School is committed to the use of bicycles as a mode of transport and has bicycle racks in the secure space accessed via the rear of the building in Nelson Street. For access, please use the intercom located by the roller shutter or call the school on 020 7193 6337. Please note that we cannot take any responsibility for bicycles stored in the racks, storage is at the owner’s risk.

Disabled parking

The school has a single disabled parking space strictly reserved for registered disabled drivers, accessed via the rear of the building in Nelson Street. For access, please use the intercom located by the roller shutter or call the school on 020 7193 6337.

Public transport

Whitechapel, Aldgate East and Shadwell tube stations are within a 10 minute walk of the school. A number of buses serve Commercial Road and New Road. Visit www.tfl.gov.uk for more details.

Coming by car

We have excellent public transport services and do not recommend driving. We are situated in a congested urban environment with no on-site parking.

For anyone who must travel by car there is a private car park at Royal Mint Street (10 minutes walk), alternatively visit www.ncp.co.uk for local NCP parking.

Commercial Road is one of the busiest trunk roads in London and carries a variety of vehicles including large trucks, buses and motorcycles which can make crossing a challenge. Parents and students should explore and be fully aware of different routes (via the safest possible) that lead to the school. More advice is available from the London Cycling Campaign www.lcc.org.uk.
