To support the personalised learning ethos at Wapping High School, we have developed a multi-faceted one-to-one and group coaching programme.

We are proud to be able to deliver staff coaching to each Year 11 & 10 student at Wapping High. In addition to this, our Key Stage 3 students take part in weekly peer-coaching sessions where they also develop their skills as competent coaches and communicators.

We are growing and fostering a culture of coaching across the school and are passionate about supporting students towards realising their personal and academic potential. These programmes are designed to guide learners towards becoming resilient individuals with excellent problem solving skills. We also understand that promoting a strong sense of wellbeing amongst our students will ensure that they are happy and well supported.

Students meet with their coach once a week or fortnightly for a 15 minute session where they discuss and plan how to achieve their long term goals. This is done through a series of stepping stone ‘short-term’ goals.  Learners chart their progress and record their strategies in their personal coaching log book.  The programme is set to continue expanding and we can’t wait to update you on all of our students’ successes!

My favourite thing about coaching is that 1 to 1 bond with a teacher so you know you have someone in your corner if you ever needed anything.

Sara, Year 11

In coaching there is always a friendly vibe and it isn’t forced conversations – it’s motivational and I feel supported. Everything I ever speak about is dealt with and I was given opportunities and help where I was struggling with work.

Mahzabin, Year 11

Setting short term goals was really positive. This motivated me towards reaching little milestones towards my long term goals and also gave me satisfaction along the way. What I like the most is that these mindsets could be established in real life beyond school. I will definitely think back to coaching when I need to motivate myself in the future.

Jedan, Year 11

I like being able to talk about aunty problems privately, as well as getting help and advice for my revision and organisation.
