This week Wapping High hosted the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe award-winning actor Sir Ian McKellen for a very special assembly.
Sir Ian spoke about his work with the LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall and regaled students with tales from his illustrious acting career.
His overarching message was one of equality and kindness towards others and he then opened the floor to a whole range of excellent questions from Wapping High pupils.
The student members of Wapping High’s LGBTQ+ Working Party were then given the opportunity to take part in a brunch Q & A session with Sir Ian in the Headmaster’s office. Sir Ian and I were both so impressed with their concern for social issues, and their commitment towards improving life for LGBTQ+ youth.
Well done Wapping High, and as Gandalf said if you do not study – ‘You shall not pass!’.
